Born and raised in Memphis, Skemaddox joines the ranks with his debut release on Generation Smash, “On Repeat“.
After spending three years in London involved in the house music scene, Skemaddox then moved to LA, where he started throwing parties with Anthem Magazine, Red Bull and MFG, and soon became an influential name in the music scene. After several years of seeing and working with some of the most influential DJ’s, Skemaddox joined the ranks and began making his mark within the electronic music world.
“On Repeat” opens with a pulsing drum beat for the first few bars, before the bass is introduced and immediately intensifies the track. A powerful male vocal is introduced in spoken-word style and the track tones down momentarily, but it’s not long before a heavy melody starts to paint out the structure for a huge drop, whilst higher melodic notes dance over the top. There’s a great deal of variation to the track, as almost instantaneously the tone lowers again, this time, with harmonious piano chords hanging on to the spoken-word.
Skemaddox’s eclectic style and contagious energy has also led him to support the likes of Calvin Harris, Chromeo and Justin Jay to name but a few.
“On Repeat” may be his first outing on the label, but it is sure to be heard across the festival fields this summer and will catapult his name across the globe.
