Robbert van de Corput, better known as Hardwell, is a Dutch DJ and producer, who was crowned World’s #1 DJ in the 2013 DJ Mag Top 100. This award-winning DJ, producer, musician, label owner and lover of all things music has not only helped shape the current state of dance music, but has left an everlasting imprint on it as well. Hardwell also spent two years preparing to release his second documentary ‘I AM Hardwell – Living The Dream’ during the world renowned Amsterdam Dance Event, premiering the film at the famous Pathé Tuschinski theatre cinema. Directed by Robin Piree, who also made the 2013 documentary ‘I AM Hardwell’, this film follows the DJ at the height of his fame around the globe during his ‘I Am Hardwell’ tour visiting 34 cities around the world. The film received a national cinema release during ADE in the Netherlands and is available on iTunes worldwide. The rise of Hardwell as a young boy from the city of Breda into a ripened international super-heavyweight has become an inspiring tale for all. Coming full circle from a dream to reality of wanting to become the #1 DJ in the World, we can be assured that Hardwell is a force that will drive electronic dance music for years to come.
Two months ago Hardwell announced to stop his career of DJ, with great regret of his fans.
“[…]being Hardwell 24/7 leaves too little energy, love, creativity and attention for my life as a normal person to do so.
This is why I have decided to clear my schedule indefinitely to be completely liberated from targets, interviews, deadlines, release dates, etc. I’ve always dealt with all the pressure that comes with the heavy touring schedule, but for now, it felt too much, like a never ending rollercoaster ride.”
The hope of him to come back perform is strong, both from people who follows him since his debut and in recent times. But he promised that he is not going to abandon music and that he will continue working on it.
This is effectively a goodbye, not a farewell!
